Who You’ll See at MarketSmart

10 days till MarketSmart, and Miami is on our minds. If you’re not receiving our events and promotions emails you missed who are speakers are. You can see them on our event listing, but who exactly are they? Well, take a look!

Todd Hale is the SVP – Consumer & Shopper Insights at The Nielsen Company and will be presenting, “Funny Things Happened on Our Way to Our Economic Recovery” at 1:30PM.

Appointed to his current role in 1999, Todd is responsible for creating thought leadership content and delivering client and industry presentations. He has more than 34 years of experience in the consumer research industry, including 28 plus years with The Nielsen Company. At Nielson he has held various marketing and sales management positions within advertising/product testing, advanced analytics and consumer panel practice areas.

His 45-minute presentation will address  falling unemployment, improving housing market, growing new car sales, rising consumer confidence, but why is the recovery not as evident in consumer-packaged-goods retailing?  What is holding sales back?  Is it our stores, our assortment, our price/value equation, and/or our shoppers?  Is growth a short or long-term issue and what is our industry doing to accelerate growth?

Neal Lassila is the President and CEO at Fresh Juice Global and will be presenting, “Now and Later – Globalizing Retail & Hospitality Experiences” at 2:20 PM.

Neal serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Fresh Juice Global, LLC.  For the past 22 years, he has held key executive leaderships roles, including the last 14 years in Technology Strategic Planning, Research, and Development with The Walt Disney Company, where he lead retail technology and business strategies for ESPN Zone and Disney Consumer Products. In 2012, Neal left The Walt Disney company to start Fresh Juice Global, a company focused on helping clients connect with their customers on a personal level.

Brad Straka is the Director of Customer Engagement at Jarden Consumer Solutions, and will be presenting, “Change is Taking Shape: How E-tailing has Reshaped our Brick-and-Mortar Go-To-Market Strategy Forever” at 3:20PM.

He oversees merchandising development for some of the most well-known brands in the competitive small appliance industry, including Crock-Pot, Mr. Coffee, Sunbeam, Oster, and Food Saver. He’s worked for Jarden since 2003, but prior to joining Jarden he worked on both sides of the desk as Account Executive for several creative agencies and as “the client.” From the American Bar Association to Toyota – Brad’s M.O. is cultivating creative thinking and bringing those ideas to life.

Michelle Adams is the Founder & President at Marketing Brainology, and will be presenting, “Premiere Release of the 2014 Shopper Engagement Mass Merchant Study” at 4:10 PM.

Michelle Adams is a recognized speaker in consumer and shopper insights to marketing and corporate America. She is the founder of Marketing Brainology, a company focused on helping companies better connect to consumers and shoppers and understand their decision-making processes. She is also a very active member of POPAI, serving on our Board of Directors and Research Committee.

Michelle will give the first presentation of our 2014 Mass Merchant Study results. We can’t tell more than that because it’s top secret, but the data is different from the 2012 Shopper Engagement Study in the grocer channel.
