Trademark

The registered name of a company or product in its stylized form. Trademarks can be words, symbols or devices, which a marketer uses to distinguish its good or services from those sold by others. The creator of a design or illustration, which is used as a trademark, can, depending on the circumstances surrounding its creation, own copyright in it. A marketer who commissions an independent contractor to create a trademark should be sure to obtain a written copyright transfer from the creator.
