Color Space

The set of all colors which can be portrayed by a single color system. Well-known color systems are CIELab by the CIE Beleuchtungskommission, Kodaks PhotoYCC, RGB used in PCs and CMYK used for printing. CIELab and PhotoYCC are suitable for processing and storing images. The color spaces of the RGB and CMYK systems on the other hand are noticeably smaller. In addition CMYK data is only ever useful for a given printing process and cannot be used again in other output media.
