Cobalt Blue

The cobalt-aluminum mixed oxide CoAl2O4 ? has been widely used in Europe since the second half of the 18th Century. Louis Jacques Th?nard (1777 – 1857) developed a manufacturing process in 1802 which is why the pigment is also known as Th?nards blue. Together with the various blue pigments, yellow, green and violet cobalt pigments are also available today.
