Board of Directors
Provides strategic guidance and acts as the governing body for all programs, activities and initiatives of the organization. This body elects the officers of the association, which provide direct oversight of POPAI operations. Each member of the Board can serve up to two three-year terms upon election, which takes place at the Annual Members Meeting.
The Executive Committee consists of all of POPAI’s elected Officers, along with four additional Board members, and meets monthly. The Executive Committee is in charge of overseeing POPAI’s strategic initiatives and ongoing operations, acting in absence of the Board, when necessary.
Strategic Planning Committee
The Strategic Planning Committee acts to ensure POPAI’s goals and vision for the future of the association addresses the needs to evolve the industry. The committee consists of senior industry experts who bring the insight and experience needed in order to help POPAI continue to stay relevant to our members and the industry as a whole.
Collaborates on educational year-round initiatives, including but not limited to: annual or recurring educational events and seminars, webinars, the publication of POPAI’s textbooks, and managing the MaRC certification program. The committee also filters all ideas for new programs and initiatives in the educational arena.

POPAI’s Research Committee
Governs and coordinates POPAI’s research initiatives which includes the Shopper Engagement Study Series and its corresponding reports and ongoing data. Compliance Task Force
Challenged to provide a current compliance understanding in various retail channels with a goal of increasing the likelihood of successful implementation in the field. Volunteer leaders and participants are being sought.
Display Performance and Effectiveness Task Force
Evaluate key characteristics of displays and how they will bring new understandings to help enhance in-store marketing execution and success. Volunteer leaders and participants are being sought.
As the industry’s association, POPAI recognizes companies and individuals who have made significant contributions to in-store marketing, as well as to identify future leaders for the organization. Committee members use their knowledge of the industry to select Hall of Fame inductees, the Chief Award honoree and nominate members of the Board of Directors.
In charge of the strategic direction of POPAI’s Annual Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) Awards Contest, the premier awards program for recognizing the most innovative and effective in-store and displays. They review judging criteria, display categories, and the overall awards process.
Oversees the planning and execution of POPAI’s involvement in and sponsorship of industry tradeshows -- most notably GlobalShop, the world’s largest annual event for retail design and shopper marketing, and the home of POPAI’s OMA Awards Contest. GlobalShop is a massive tradeshow, with over 650 exhibitors each year.
West Coast POP Show Committee
Oversees the coordination and planning of the only annual show dedicated to honoring point-of-purchase (POP) on the West Coast. This includes determining the theme of the annual event, as well as helping POPAI strategize the West Coast POP Show competition, showcase, and awards ceremony.
East Coast POP-UP Creative Gallery Committee
Responsible for the annual POP-UP Creative Gallery in New York City. The event showcases innovative, creative solutions and displays during an evening of speakers, viewing and voting for displays, and networking.
Provides guidance relative to the services POPAI provides to our Canadian membership, including managing the POPAI University’s highly successful, twice-yearly ‘On the Road’ educational events that take place in Toronto, Canada. This includes determining the vision and content for each event, providing attendees with a cohesive and rewarding experience while getting educated about today’s Canadian retail picture.
Shopper Marketing Young Professionals Network
The “Network” encourages and enhances professional development in young leaders in the industry, ages 21-35, through networking, seminars and tours.
Producer Leadership Council
Consisting of senior executives and owner members who are direct producers of displays, this council serves as an educational, collaborative, social foundation for producers to meet with their peers.
