ATTENDEES WILL LEARN:
  • the difference between jobs "specified for failure" and those "designed for success";
  • how to use proofs to communicate expectations and achieve successful printing projects;
  • the ingredients of a job, from digital files, photography and color specification, to proofs and their evaluation;
  • the qualities of good originals and designs for successful production;
  • explanations of the most common print flaws and their causes;
  • principles that explain how color is reproduced in print and the newest ways to expand the printed color gamut; and
  • how product colors might be substituted for standard colors to suit brand color demands and still fir the budget.

Participants are encouraged to bring examples of projects they've worked on so they can receive feedback on alternatives which can provide benefits in the future.

PLANT TOURS:

Berk SignatureThe afternoon of each day will be devoted to plant tours. On Wednesday, attendees will visit InnoMark Communications, a modern pre-press and print operation. Participants will interact with skilled professionals and view state-of-the-art equipment used in high-end image manipulation, pre-press activities, the latest digital printing technology and large format lithographic printing for a wide range of retail, POP and packaging projects.

Thursday afternoon will include a tour of Lewisburg Container, considered one of the best in its graphics capabilities for packaging and display projects produced by flexographic printing or flexo combined with offset or digital elements.  Participants will tour the plant and see the various stages of production and how both high graphics and more routine corrugated bases and cartons are printed and converted into three dimensional form for distribution to points-of-sale.

At the conclusion of Thursday's tour, the bus will take participants to the airport or back to the hotel as needed.
