Black Friday is the ultimate shopping day. Shoppers waking up early for door busters, families staying up all night after a big dinner for a family outing, it’s all nostalgic for me. But what’s up with the new trend of stores being open on Thanksgiving? I love shopping, but I don’t know if I’ll have the energy to pull on non-drawstring pants after Thanksgiving dinner to go shopping for the best deals.
The list of retail stores opening their doors on Turkey day keeps increasing. As of right now, Kohl’s, Macy’s, and J.C. Penney have announced they will be open on Thanksgiving night. Will there be more?
Maybe opening the doors earlier will increase sales. I can only assume retail stores are hoping the trend reports won’t be true – they predict the average consumer will spend 2% less than last year. Maybe the extra excitement or controversy will draw in more curious shoppers. I can’t wait to see the stats and insights everyone learns from this new trend. What do you think will happen?
